Nice flavor and stands up to cooking in a stew
Ordered these and cooked up a stew with them. They held up and provided the perfect bit of crunch with a nice flavor.

Makes great hummus!
Chana dal is basically split chickpeas. It cooks more quickly than chickpeas and makes the best, smooth, silky hummus imaginable.

Great
These are quality and cook up beautifully. I usually soak overnight before cooking. Purchased multiple times now and will continue to order. Next time will get the larger 4 lb bag!

Chickpeas
Very delicious in my lentil soup. They say the split cooks faster, well it took the chickpeas longer to somewhat soften compared to the carrots and lentils. I will start the chickpeas sooner next time I make the lentil soup.

Chickpeas
Amazon flags my review of this if I am too specific of what I made or I used them. MAKES NO SENSE. Here is my edited review:These are dried chickpeas. They taste like chickpeas. Hip hip hooray.

Terrible item packaging
Terrible item packaging. The dal was in the package instead of the bag inside.

Authentic Chana Dal
This baby came in literally three layers of amazon bags and high praise to the individual who decided to do that because I was really excited to get to review this and nothing is worse than losing good items in transit.I was really excited to get to review this item because, frankly, food costs are high, and I can't usually afford to buy experimental ingredients and I live for cooking. We live in a rural area where any food that isn't American Diner isn't available.Chana Dal is split and polished chickpeas and a staple ingredient in indian cooking. It's super healthy and has a really high protein content.I did a lot of googling before cooking them and while I can't post a direct link to the recipe in this format I used Swasthi's Recipes from healthy indian recipes for Chana Dal. I've cooked a lot of lentils before, but I agree with her; you really do want to soak these first for a better product, and for sensitive stomachs, it really can aid digestion. One change is that I used an Indian spice called Lemon Chili Pepper instead of their seasoning mix which you could look through my review history to see.

Great chickpeas for hummus!
I used the Taj Chana Dal to make my first batch of hummus. These were great to work with and make really good hummus! No dust and everything in This is a very well priced product but if you use these a lot they have a 4 pound bag that has an even better price on it.I will definitely be looking at this company for other products. The company is in Illinois, it states product of India and the best by date is Dec 2027.⭐️ 1 star - I don't recommend it at all, poor quality, or it does not reflect the advertising.⭐️⭐️ 2 stars - I don't recommend it, it has multiple faults, or is not priced where it should be for the product.⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3 stars - It's passable. It has some faults, but the quality is adequate for what it is.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4 stars - Product quite acceptable; it does what it promises.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 stars - Product that I totally recommend.
