A Starter That Actually Starts!
I picked up this Living Dough starter, followed the directions, and—miraculously—it woke up and did exactly what it was supposed to do. No drama. No sourdough tantrums. Just bubbles, rise, and that yeasty enthusiasm you hope for in a starter.Honestly, I’m impressed. As someone easing into the sourdough game (aka the carb cult), having a reliable starter is everything. Sourdough is a bit of a time commitment, so it’s crucial to start with something that won’t ghost you after Day 2.Living Dough delivered. I’ll probably end up trying more of their starters as I spiral deeper into this floury rabbit hole.Bonus points: Joe (the person behind it all) is super active on social media and actually responds—in a friendly, helpful, non-robotic way. That kind of positivity goes a long way when your dough looks like a science experiment gone wrong.Highly recommend!

Best Starter Available! Get it now.
I've tried a couple of those dried out starters. The both were terrible and did nothing. This stuff is the real deal. I had it going full blast after 3 days. I've made so awesome bread with it. Now if I can get my neighbor to stop asking for a loaf I'll be happy. He loves Sourdough Bread. You can't get it in far Northern Maine. All the eat here is Canadian White. Garbage. I haven't bought bread in months. A+ all the way! You won't be sorry if you follow the simple directions. 😊😘

No Guidance - Review Updated
Update: Customer service reached out to me and was wonderful! I’ve had issues going on with family and wasn’t unable to respond but they reached out multiple times and ultimately ended up sending me a brand new container of starter, with instructions, despite not being able to get in touch with me. Customer service is an important part of any brand to me and theirs is top tier. I appreciate their dedication to fixing the situation and ensuring that I was satisfied. I can’t wait to try out the new starter and can’t say enough nice things about this company!I want to preface by saying I am completely new to sourdough and making bread but like to cook and wanted to give it try. With that being said, there were zero instructions, guidance, or directions included - just the jar of product. Obviously I don’t expect my hand to be held but I thought there would be at least some sort of direction included. I don’t have a clue how to feed it or anything so I’ll have to do my own research on that. The lid arrived swelled up and when I opened the product, it hissed. Again, no directions were included so I’m not sure if this is normal or not. I’ll have to research this to make sure I’m good to use it. If so, I’ll come back and make an update on how that goes.

Excellent GF Starter
Back when I could eat wheat, I had a sourdough starter for years that I used for everything. I was excited when I found this GF starter and I must say I couldn't be happier with the results. I fed it the day it arrived and by the next evening it was clearly active - it doubled in size and is full of happy bubbles and smells just the way it should. I can't wait to start baking with it. Highly recommend!

Dutch 900
I struggled for weeks trying to get a starter to mature. I learned that faulures (1:1:1) only works if you have a slow environment. My experiments matured too fast and starved. And when I fed it 1:5:5 it never doubled. And when it did, my dough under fermented. I swallowed my sunk cost and purchased the Dutch Sourdough starter. This sourdough starter is amazing. It tripled in 24 hours and I was able to start baking right away. I tried another brand it took 3 days for it to come alive.I shall call this sourdough starter Bram and Bram shall be it's name. Dutch sourdough starter is the way to go.

Excited for my new pet to grow :D!!
This is my first time with a sourdough starter, and I’m super excited :P. It kinda feels like I have a pet to feed now! It actually smelled really nice when I opened it, and I can’t wait until it’s ready to use! It came with instructions on how to feed and store it, which was nice. I kinda wish some recipes had been included though, or maybe some tips on what’s recommended for certain things, like what kind of jar I should store it in, what type of flour is best, what should it look like if it’s ready, and what the ideal temperature and humidity are. Overall, this seems like a great quality product and I’m gathering recipes to make once it’s ready :).

No more suffering!
I worked at making my own starter for over six weeks with little success. Finally; my husband accidentally knocked my glass starter jar to the ground and that was the end of that failure. After six weeks of suffering with little result; I purchased this. I live in FL and it is summer and this arrived in awesome condition even after over a week of postal transport. I was able to successfully use within only 2 days. I am a beginner so my first decent loaf came a few days later after some practice. I have frozen some starter in the jar it came in just in case. I can now proceed with my sourdough journey with confidence. So happy!

Gorgeous bread!
Absolutely gorgeous and delicious bread. I've been making my own sourdough for a few years and thought I would try out a few different starters and see if I noticed a difference. I've never used any starter that wasnt my own but I have brought starter from one house to another during a move and definitely noticed they were different. I ordered the starter and noticed that it would be a little while before it arrived and I had a short trip coming up so I ordered it right as I left. Low and behold, it arrived early and our cool spring weather hit one of those weird hot humid spells for 3 days and I was nervous that the starter may have gotten cooked in my mail box. I wanted to give it a go and see. The starter took about a week to wake up and when it did it was some of the most beautiful bubbly texture and gorgeous starter I've ever seen. I definitely plan to buy others to try and I have many different ideas I want to try now.
