Yes, you can get away just using the standard tip. That's what I'd been doing prior and never thought that the insert tip would make that much of a difference. It does. I have a lot more confidence with the inserts going in knowing that they're square to the tip I'm pushing on.

I was a little confused/skeptical on these at first. When I got them and my new soldering iron, i tested putting m5 threaded inserts dovetail matchfit 3dprinted holders. I was quite surprised at how fast and easily the process worked. The soldering iron tip (this product) heated fast and the 10 parts I inserted the parts to worked perfectly.

Great set of tools to use with my Pine-Sol soldering iron to insert fasteners into 3-D printed projects definitely worth keeping in your inventory if you like building things like I do

These are the installer piece for headset inserts. Which really upped my game with 3D printed parts that need assembly.You actually probably don’t need these, I sometimes just use my soldering iron tip instead of swapping out to this tip.This is definitely better than a soldering tip, but isn’t entirely necessary. At least so far.

I think these are pretty good. They're easy to install, easy to work with, and heat up well. The part where I have an issue with them is that I was seeing some form of corrosion or maybe some kind of final-coat degradation -- regardless, there was a significant color shift from the beautiful new-tool shiny-brass color, to a skeleton-white frosted-over look to the outside of the tool. This makes me concerned for it's long-term durability and internal materials composition. If it's doing that on the outside, how to I know the inside is still okay and not going to fragment or crack on the inside? They were beautiful when they arrived, after a few uses, not so much.

Bought it, it fit on the tip of my old Radio Shack soldering iron. Plugged it, put an insert on it, slowly pushed in. 5 of 6 worked. I pushed one off center, tried to move it sideways, got plastic on the threads, locked a screw in it, messed up. Push slowly and straight and it works like a charm.

This is a really nice item if you're pressing in inserts all the time. Easy to get them straight. I have one soldering gun for inserts and one for wires.
