Should be fine, I use mine in a 20l and it works well. You can adjust the flow so the current isn’t too strong in a smaller tank.

Q: Is it quiet and good for a 20 litre tank with guppies?

I’ve bought the 50 size which was on a 15 litre starter tank with just one goldfish in it and I’ve used the 400 on a 120 litre tank with 5 cold water fish in. Both were adequate with regards to filer. However they aren’t that quiet. But you get use to the flow. But beware, if you over feed your fish, they soon clog and become noisy. The crystal clear filters are so much better at keeping the water much clearer. But I’ve only ever used them on cold water fish. But I presume the filtering principle is much the same. Although I know tropical fish you need to be a little more careful with water quality. For the price , I’ve found these much better than other makes ive used. And easy to just click in place & ready to go. But I’d probably go for the 100 filer if it’s not too big for your tank. Hope this helps

Q: Is this filter suitable for round tanks?

I don’t know but from my experience I don’t think it would be satisfactory. I would go for an external filter for round tank. I can’t recommend one as I haven’t any experience with round tanks. Soy best I can do.

I never changed the filter but the cartridges I washed out each month. You're normally encouraged to not get a new cartridge each month because it means the tank has to build up that good bacteria again. So I gave it all a really good clean in a jug. I emptied the black bits from inside the cartridge into the jug with water too and gave them a good swirl and clean then I poured them back in to the foam hole. The water goes through it and the bits go back in with ease. But I think it says on the description the size of the tank that is the max to use it with. I used the 50 one in a 10L tank. Worked fine.
