Nesco FD-61 Snackmaster Encore Food Dehydrator for Great Jerky and Snacks, 4 Trays, Gray

The Nesco FD-61 food dehydrator does an outstanding job for my dehydration needs. I bought this after my previous dehydrator (Nesco FD-60) finally stopped working after more than 20 years of use. So far, it works just as well, if not better. The jerky and fruits that I have dried have come out fairly uniform in consistency and drying time has been spot on with the guidelines in the instruction and recipe manual. I hope it lasts as long as my previous dehydrator!

I've only had this for a month. Didn't want to waste a bumper crop of grape tomatoes so thought I would dehydrate them. WOW! I am not one to pop a grape tomato in my mouth, but I could eat the dehydrated tomatoes right out of the jar. I have dehydrated 4 batches of tomatoes, chives, oregano and basil. All came out perfect, though it did take longer for the chives to dehydrate than expected. It does make that "hair dryer on low" sound, but I just stuck it in the guest room. It is also very large. Think of where you might store it before purchasing. I am looking forward to dehydrating some pineapple and apples with this soon.

this is my 4th and got as a replacement for my oldest one which was about 20 yr old I am very happy with the quality of my Nesco dehydrators.

I bought the SnackMaster Encore, Model # FD-61, to replace my 25 yr old one that had been a gift from my father. This is a very good unit to dry herbs, fruits, veggies, and flowers. It is very easy clean-up since the blower is top-mounted instead of at the bottom. My old one had the blower at the bottom so it was always full of seeds and/or sticky juices which were very hard to clean up. Having the items with suggested temps listed on the blower unit is helpful. This unit is also much quieter than my older model. & my husboan really appreciates that feature! It holds up to 12 trays so I can do multiple types of fruits/veggies/herbs at one time. The Recipe & instruction manual is also very helpful, esp. if you are a novice at dehydrating. I also bought the Nonstick Round Silicone Dehydrator Sheets which help with the cleanup.

Plenty of trays and space for drying fruit. We have an apricot tree which produces tons of fruit. When I couldn’t bear to make another jar of preserves, a friend recommended this product and it worked perfectly.

Made in China. Not as advertised. Not happy!!!!
