Have a Question? See What Others Asked

I have the Pyle turntable and Pyle stereo but they don't work together--VERY low sound--so is this the missing piece?
So this is a stupid question, I plug my RCA wires coming from my turntable into the Amp. But where do I plug the speaker wires into on the Amp?
If I have a record player without a Preamp, will this help me with hooking it up to a Sonos?

Works well with a few position adjustments

The item is small enough to not be a problem, even in a crowded set up. It works well but the one thing I did notice is that one of the RCA plugs needed to be set 'just right' in order to work. Don't know if it's the unit or my cable but it's working now.

Excellent entry-level phono/turntable preamp!

This little box just works and I love it. I bought a vintage turntable that needed a lot of tender love and care and when I was finished, I bought this phone preamp to test it out and it works just great. To all the people that complain about buzzing you need to ground this connect the ground on the preamp device to your turntable and the buzzing will go away and it won’t work wonderfully.

This preamp WILL handicap your setup

I don’t typically bother writing negative reviews but I felt it was important to let people who may not know any better know what they’re getting into with this preamp. I kind of knew it wouldn’t be that great given the price. But I saw plenty of positive reviews so I figured I’d give it a shot. Well, I tried it with two different turntables and two different sets of speakers. The sound quality is frankly abysmal. It adds tons of unwanted distortion, and is particularly noticeable in vocals. If you are just getting into vinyl or getting your first setup you might not know any better. And it could sound passable enough. But if you know what your records/setup are actually supposed to sound like you’ll be immediately disappointed.Yes it is dirt cheap and I know it’s tempting. But believe me, this thing will make your listening experience so much worse than it needs to be. I ended up getting the Fluance preamp, which admittedly is like 7x the price. But the difference is absolute night and day. I’m sure there are plenty cheaper than the Fluance that work just great. But this Pyle preamp just isn’t it.If you’re splashing out on a nice turntable and/or speakers (or even “okay” ones), don’t let a junky preamp handicap the whole thing.

Works great!

This works great! The built in amp for my turntable was not amplifying to an acceptable level and picking up lots of noise. With this the noise went away and the sound is not at an acceptable level.

Good product, but it has the wrong Resistors!

It's a good product, but there seems to be a wrong component. After receiving the goods, I couldn't wait to get it into the sound system, but the sound was obviously distorted, and the amplifier panel showed that the signal was too strong. After checking, there are two 820 ohm feedback resistors in the circuit diagram , but there were two 47 ohm resistors on the PCB board, which caused too large amplification and overload distortion. I replaced them with 1k ohm resistors, and then everything working good. I still leave 5 stars, but I hope the customer service or someone else can explain it.

Opt for a more expensive preamp

If you have any knowledge of music whatsoever, spring for a more expensive preamp. I got this with low expectations, and the sound distortion is still bad enough that I wish I had opted for a better preamp. Vocals sound “buzzy” regardless of volume level. I adjusted the ground wire and swapped out cords for newer ones. Still sounds pretty awful. The only way I am able to cut down on the distortion is to turn the treble and bass all the way down while the volume is set to mid-range.The good news? It’s loud. I missed hearing my LP’s, so I get to listen to them now. But knowing that they could sound clear and crisp instead of buzzy and muddled really ruins the experience. Also, the volume control is either way too loud or too quiet and no in-between.For context, I have a vintage record player with AV cords and a ground wire. I have new speakers intended to be used with turntables. And I do have college degrees in music. My ex had this turntable hooked up to an Onkyo receiver and the sound was near-perfect. I wasn’t expecting perfection, just to hear my records again. Well now I can, but the sound quality is so poor that I will be springing for a more expensive preamp at first opportunity. No, really. It’s poor sound quality. But would get the job done for someone who doesn’t mind a muddled sound.
