PlayStation 2 DVD Remote Control

I love this thing. It turned my ps2 into a DVD player.I needed a DVD player to play Some US region DVDs to teach an English conversation class in japan based on anime. Using the game controller looked really unprofessional and was cumbersome. Now everything works really well. This controller required no set up and could turn on my ps2 from the start. It has buttons for subtitles and Audio and a-b loop button along with the usual menu buttons. For this to work You need a ps2 with a little black infrared window in the front. If you don't have that window this will not work on it's own.I highly recommend this for one reason. My ps2 is not as finicky about DVDs as my other DVD players are. For example I tried to play some burned DVDs on our Toshiba and Magnavox players with no success, but they played on my ps2 without any hassle. If you want to watch DVDs on your ps2, you want this for sure.

Like you would expect, this controls your PS2 just fine.Tip: Use the buttons at the bottom of the remote. Yes, you have to memorize the functions, but then you don't have to look at the remote to use it. They are the same buttons as on a controller and easy to feel.The remote adds a real fast-forward. The one on the controller is only 2x and you have to hold the button down. The remote adds another one with three speeds that you hit once to use. IMHO, it is worth getting just for this feature.Pros:Adds a much better fast-forward control (preserves the old one too).Makes the standard DVD controls easy to use.Easy to find the power button (visually and tactilely).Cons:No volume/TV control.You have to read the grid of upper buttons to know what they do.Eject does NOT work on the PS2 Slim.No "Go To" button (press "Select" to reach it from the menu).Neutral:Not designed to be used as a controller, but the buttons will work.Hold one second to restart the PS2; hold 3 seconds to turn it off.

Works perfect for the Slim 'new' playstation 2 and makes playing DVDs perfectly easy. As long as your PS2 has a built in receiver, this remote will do the job. Also can double as a wireless controller but I'd leave that up to games that dont have a lot of intense button action. An example is Final Fantasy Tactics. Not really good for fighting games of course. Great product. Came in bulk fashion but was truly new and defintiely a great buy.

This is one of those items for ps2 that's great to have and a pain to not. It's one of those items that all ps2 users wanted badly. Unfortunately, I am one those people that has to wait for prices to get ridiculously low before I can justify getting it. Well, I got one for a pretty low price. It was so low, in fact, that I wasn't expecting a complete package, but I was so wrong. It arrived in less than a week with not only all original components, but also completely in tact and functioning.

If you own a Playstation 2(slim version) and plan on using it for any length of time as a DVD player, then it is advisable to get this remote as it is a pain in the butt to use the control pad to navigate the DVD controls. The remote is of solid build-quality and feels nice in the hand.There are plenty of buttons with a familiar layout if you've used a Sony remote in the past(expect this one also has the triangle/square/circle/x buttons of the PS controller along with the shoulder buttons). Each button is firm and feels responsive. No real drawback to this device except that it can be a bit pricey for an older item

I haven't used this remote, so ignore the star rating above. I am writing just to inform people that this remote only works for newer PS2's: those with an IR receiver between the power button and the eject button. (I had to find this out the hard way, ordering this product only to discover that it was incompatible with the PS2 I had; I figured I should save other people from going through the hassle I did.)As explained on the package of this remote, it does NOT work with PS2's that have model number SCPH-30001, SCPH-35001 GT, SCPH-30001 R, SCPH-39001, SCPH-39001/N, or SCPH-39010/N. To identify the model number of your system, refer to the label on the system rear or left side panel.

Ok, people I bought this remote thinking it will be new considering I purchased new and new means in original box with paper work batteries etc. I purchased this for collecting purposes not to use .but it does work and it came in 3 days . but not what I expected from the photo and saying new ....(false advertisement)...I could have bought this remote like this at my local game stop for $3.00.....:(

This product did not come with the infrared receiver for the ps2 so it is unusable. Complete waste of money.
