Love it, semi gamer

I love it but I am not a pro gamer just a mom who plays minecraft with autistic son. With that said it is way better the a regular mouse that come with a computer. I prefer wired so I am wasting batteries all the time.

Good Bargain Offering

This mouse came in a cool plastic box, kinda like a lightweight Otter Box. I'm going to reuse that box to store little parts in. The mouse itself is lighter than I'm used to. Most of my recent mice have been Logitech mice, and compared to those, this one feels cheaper. But hey, it is a lot less expensive. I'm not a hardcore gamer, but I do play an FPS or two. For that, the DPI settings are more than broad enough, end easy to adjust. On other LED mice I've had, the colors on the mouse and the DPI setting are related, which sucks if you want to customize the color. You can do it, but then you won't know your DPI setting. This one only changes the color of the mouse wheel to indicate DPI, and that's smart. The color effects are on par with other mice in the same range. They are cool and pretty and rainbowy, and you can customize them. One thing I like about this mouse compared to similar ones is the logo. It looks like a stylized cow skull or maybe a diagram of fallopian tubes. What it isn't is some giant off-brand word like 'HCMAN" or 'HIRAFLY" or something equally silly sounding. Big props for that. And the color changing effects of the logo are independent of the other lights.I did not download and install the driver software, first because it's unnecessary, and second, because in my experience these sorts of drivers can introduce unwanted issues. Why get all up into that when you don't need to?Other mice I've owned at this price point have died in about a year, and I fully expect this one to do the same, but at the price being asked, I'm ok with that. And, at the price being asked, I think this mouse is solid. You can definitely buy better mice, but I sincerely doubt you can do much better at this price point.

Doesn't Do What It Claims

Got this for gaming on my Windows 10 computer, and was mostly interested in the ability to program and assign macros to specific buttons on the mouse as is advertised on the product description. Well, turns out you can't. I downloaded the drivers from the site listed on the product instruction page and installed them, but they don't work with Windows 10. Every attempt to open the mouse application program gets a "the device is disconnected" message. I tried running the program with the moused already plugged in, not yet plugged in, restarting my computer, etc. Always get "the device is disconnected" message. Bottom line: you cannot program macros at all and the buttons are not programmable as advertised. If you want a regular mouse, this one is fine. It features plug 'n play functionality for the regular functions like right and left buttons, scroll wheel turning & clicking, forward page/backward page using left side buttons, and dpi adjustments using top buttons under the wheel. You also have colorful lights that can be adjusted to various modes. But none of this excuses the lack of working drivers and lack of programmable macros. Total disappointment.

I like the mouse, but see below about the driver/utility situation. Conditionally Recommended

I bought a Logitech G5 forever ago, and have appreciated the operation of a GOOD mouse ever since. At least in my opinion, a good mouse should have a high polling rate, a high resolution optical sensor, decent weight, a high profile for reducing wrist fatigue, and good ergonomics on all pf the mechanical controls. So how is the Talentech Ember M18?My initial impressions of the mouse were positive. The Ember M18 ships in a lidded pastic box, which is an upgrade (?)over normal, non-descript cardboard packaging. The mouse looks a bit more substantial than a systembuilder throw-in. The housing is definitely taller than average, which is a plus. The plastic isn't finished with any soft-touch coating, which would have been nice. The cable is finished in rubber, rather than braiding, but there is a velcro cable wrap included. The mouse is immediately identified as an HID mouse when plugged in. The Ember driver is not on the Windows Update site, so it's not automatically updated. Here's where the fun begins (ugh). The documentation directs you to the english download site for the driver - which isn't a site at all... it's a redirect to a single ZIP file. The contents are a single unsigned EXE file. Despite this, the file appeared to be clean. After installing the driver/utility, the device manager did not list the 3325, and the utility reported that the device wasn't present. I went to the Chinese site and downloaded the Chinese language driver/utility - it worked (pictured), but was in Chinese. I didn't look hard enough to see if I could find one in English.So... the utility works. The mouse works. You have to work for it, which shouldn't be the case. Ergonomically, the mouse is heavy enough, the tracking is excellent, and I LOVE the mosuewheel (wide and flat, instead of the beveled). For the price the mouse is good... it's just up to you if you want to put yourself through the sketchy driver/utility situation.
