I tried the (cheaper) product that was available at my local Asian grocery store. It lacked umami. This was way better. Wish I could get a bigger package at a better price point but it's not that expensive.

Doenjang has become one of my favorite ingredients to add depth of flavor, but it can be difficult to find in many grocery stores. This Sempio version is a bit funkier than other milder doenjangs I've tasted, so a little goes a long way! It also lasts a long time in the refrigerator with a well-designed lid to ensure the smell remains in the jar. Highly recommend this doenjang for your Korean dishes, but don't be a afraid to add it to any kind of soups or stews. It's a surprisingly great addition when cooking dried beans!

A hard to find and wonderful authentic Japanese cooking product!

I have never tried this product until I bought it. I bought it because I saw a Korean family cooking on Instagram with it and I had no idea how not only delicious but incredibly nutritious this product is. So I tried it and I absolutely love it and I put it on almost everything. It's great on eggs vegetables soup really anything even potatoes. This is a very good brand and it was very fresh and affordable

VEGANS BEWARE! This product is NOT vegan and is incorrectly labeled. I was sent the “premium paste” instead of the vegan version. The package has Korean writing on it with an English sticker slapped on top. If you translate the Korean label, you’ll see there is ground anchovy listed as an ingredient, although it was left off the English translation. This listing is deceptive. DO NOT PURCHASE if you are vegan or have a seafood allergy.

My wife and daughter are gluten intolerant and it's hard to find this without wheat. They love when I make the soybean paste stew with this. It was delicious and they were so happy. It is a small container, but considering it's one of the only ones I can find, I'll have to make due.

Haven't made Doenjung Jjigae in years. I got a taste for it recently so I bought this from Amazon. It came quickly and with no damage.I quickly made it and it tasted fabulous. The product was tasty! Will buy another when this runs out😊!!
