Ignatius Catholic Study Bible: Old and New Testaments Bonded Leather – December 22, 2024

AWESOME!! I've waited for this and am so happy to have it in my Catholic library. I have had the New Testament edition for several years and the notes are incredible for helping me understand the Scripture verses. These authors are very intelligent men and have put together an incredible resource. I highly recommend it. I have learned so much. I use it every day for my quiet time. I am a convert and the Ignatius Study Bible has helped me more than I can say to understand God's Word. It is very reasonably price for the incredible volume of material you receive. The print is nice and clear and easy to read. Wish I'd had this when I first became Catholic!! I don't think anyone would be disappointed in having this Bible.

I just received my copy of the "Ignatius Catholic Study Bible: Old and New Testaments", leather bound edition, and I am very happy with this purchase. I selected the leather bound edition because I thought it would lay better when opened or on my lap, and it does. The paper is of a nice weight, not the supper thin "rice" paper I expected. The font size is also very good, probably 12 pt; I thought about getting the large print edition as I am in my fifties, but the normal font is perfect for me. No issues with any of the print that I can see, and the leather bound edition has rounded corners for the pages, which makes turning the pages a little easier. This is a very nice bible that I intend to use daily.I just started the intro to the Gospels, so I can't speak to the content, but it's a very nice bible overall. I purchased it because it's supposed to be a bible you can learn from. i.e. It has essays, maps, footnotes, etc. that may lead to a deeper understanding of the bible, and it has cross references between old testament promises and new testament fulfillments. There are also Youtube videos from the editors, Scott Hanh and Curtis Mitch, that can provide a better description of the structure, design, and purpose of this edition.

This is an excellent Study Bible. It has a lot of footnotes that explain different passages. It is a wonderful addition to my library.

My first study Bible! Amazing text, the footnotes are a game changer and make reading the Bible comprehendible like never before. This was 25+ years in the making and it shows. The ecclesiastical approval/imprimatur “let it be printed” is nice to know that it is accurate, truthful and faithful. There’s so many great cross references between the Old and New Testament, amazing essays before each book. I highly, highly recommend this Bible for any Christian or anyone looking to read and learn the word of God.

First I am not Catholic, but I will use the Bible in comparison to the KJV. I will follow to where I am lead. I also would like to say thank you to the other reviewers about damage to this beautiful book caused by shipping, and the missing pages noted by some. The copy I received is not damaged nor does it have the missing pages that others have noted. This Bible is not a casual read, nor is any Bible. I also wanted to study and read the books that is left out the Protestant Bible. There is a wealth of knowledge supplied. The Bible is God’s inspired Word, only some of the footnotes I question, they are the words of man. In any study Bible I can find where disagreement with the words of man. I do use and compare the notes. I was instantly captivated by the opening words in the introduction. “You are approaching the “word of God”.

I LOVE MY BIBLE. It’s a big boy! But it’s packed with so much commentary and essays. I always enjoy reading scripture and reading the supporting anecdotes. The commentary reads easily, without diminishing the meat of the message. Please be aware that this Bible is massive, and will mostly live at home. It’s not ideal for carrying around from place to place.

Biggest Bible I’ve ever owned.The study notes included in the Bible are just amazing: Cross-referenced notes, icon coded notes, essays, maps, pages for my own notes and plenty of margin space to write next to scripture verses.But it is big. Over 2300 pages total. It weighs a lot and a Bible bag is probably a good idea. The challenge is to find the bag that will fit the Bible as well as other items (pens/highlighters, notebook, etc.).I did one that looks more like a large purse and it works very well. Studying scripture is important for everyone and moving from living room to my workroom desk to even taking it with me when I go to a restaurant for a meal and iced tea. That new bag is the solution my problem as I didn’t want to use a different Bible.This Bible to perfect but those adjustments were very necessary.
