Patience is a virtue
This works very well at removing old gaskets, but you can't be in a rush. I was working on an engine that had been rebuilt 30 years ago and the oil pan gasket was not coming off with a razor scraper. I applied some of this to a 6" section of the gasket, waited 45 minutes, and tried to remove the gasket with the scraper. The gasket was not coming off at all.So I spread the gasket remover across the entire gasket and went to bed. I came out 10 hours later and in less than 3 minutes I had scraped off the entire old gasket. It came off in one piece. This product just needs time to soak in and do it's job.

LET IT SIT OVERNIGHT
The media could not be loaded. Genuinely amazed by this stuff to be completely honest. I fully expected it not to work after trying numerous methods to remove this 37 year old gasket from my intake manifold. I lathered the gasket generously, left it over night, and the next morning the once concrete like gasket was soft and my razor blade took it right off. Keyword LEFT IT OVERNIGHT. You have to let it sit otherwise it won’t help it all. I don’t have after pics since I wanted to get it off and my motor back together but here’s a before video of how stuck the gasket was. By the way, I was pushing as hard as I could to get under the gasket in the video.

It does help, but don't expect magic
I've been struggling to get old gasket material off the clutch cover and clutch case of my 40 year old motorcycle, so I bought this to see what it would do. I can say that it has been helpful in softening the old gasket material and making it easier to scrape off, however it is not full proof solution. While it does help, it still requires elbow grease and patience to clean all the material off. Don't expect it to just slide off with ease, especially for really stuborn residue.

Simply does not work!!!!
This should not even be on the market or being sold as gasket remover. Even after let it soak for 12 hours it had zero affect. The old formula actually work. This stuff isnt as strong as hand soap. Dont waste your money like i did.

AMAZING!!! Must have for motor work!!!
I used 5 cans to do the 2 head gaskets and front timing cover while doing a DOD delete on my L86.Its a little expensive and you go through it fast but wow it works so much better than brake cleaner. It melts the head gasket sealing material right off, Requires almost no scrapping after you let it sit. Avoiding scrapping helps avoid possible damage to the mating surfaces but also makes clean up easier. I just shop vacd it right off and it was like new.

Great for Cleaning Piston Tops
If for some reason you have to remove a cylinder head, use this stuff to clean the tops of you pistons. I also worked very well to remove gunk from E46 M3 rocker arm shafts before trying to setting valve lash. Note: this stuff only works if you buy it while its still in-date, after 2 years it will turn into a liquid and not work at all. The product must foam-up while applying and if its in-date (lees than 2 years old) it will foam up. Look on the internet to de-code the Permatex expiration code stamped on Permatex products.

Works Amazingly! You have to set it sit!!!
Removed 27 year old MLS head gasket residue from an iron block with ease. You need to let it sit! I forgot about it and let it sit for about 4 hours and I basically wiped away the old head gasket.Won’t turn your head shiny, and areas are still going to be permanently stained from the old gasket, but it’s smooth again and my fingernail doesn’t catch on anything.

Worked a little but not enough
Just got done using this to remove gaskets on aluminum crankcase and clutch covers on a 1985 Honda shadow. I followed the direction and let it soak in for 30-45 mins and tried using my plastic scrapers but no luck. Tried using a box knife blade and the gasket is still stuck pretty good tried to apply a second coat but it was pretty much empty after the first pass and it wasn’t really a big area. I will say it did soften up a little but not as advertised. Now I know this gasket remover isn’t gonna make gaskets fall off(even tho it would be nice if would) but I was expecting more. So would I buy this product again? NO but again I’m probably working with 30+ year old gaskets so if your gasket is a little newer it might be worth a try but this was my experience. I guess I will just carefully use a box knife blade like usual and some acetone until I find the holy grail of gasket removers
