I was disappointed that this was mainly made up of the hard flower centres. I made the camomile tea using quite a lot of the hard centres. It came out strong enough but I thought wasteful. The packetful would soon be used up

It's important to note from the start that the seller doesn't make any specific claims about the possible therapeutic effects of this herb and that's a good thing. In traditional herbal medicine it's meant to aid sleep and anxiety, relieve pain (what I really need) and to act as a mild aphrodisiac. Well, this was either a bad batch or the claims are a load of old hogwash!Tried to make tea with it and, neat, it was awful. Sugar added, also rank. Another cup with a bit of fresh lemon juice and it was still disgusting. Didn't try to add milk to it as I was pretty sure the milk would curdle. OK I thought, so tea doesn't work for me - try steam bath inhalation instead. Steam cleared my nasal cavities but just the hot water alone would have done that. Infused with the steam, it smelled appalling as did the skin on my face and also my hair.OK, why not try burning it on a charcoal block in my censer. Went up like a puff of smoke and left a horrible smell of dirty ashtray behind it. Right, one last try - roll it into a cigarette (no tobacco - I value my lungs) and see if that works. This was the worst of the lot - it really did taste like I'd used the contents of a full ashtray and I gave it up as a bad job half-way down the cigarette. House stank like a bar in the days when you could still smoke inside and that bar having had a really heavy night. Did think about using it in a vegetable soup but having tasted the herb on my tongue, came to the conclusion that this would be a waste of decent veg and an insult to anyone I offered it to.On the positive side, it does come well packed in a resealable bag and very quickly. Though the seller warns that there may be some twigs, this batch had very few and they were fine ones.Interestingly, but frustratingly, the seller does sell this on eBay too at a far higher price. I hadn't realised I'd ordered the same product from the same seller. Trying to assess the quality of what I thought were two different suppliers I'd ordered one from there too. Given that on both sites they make clear they will not accept returns I'll be stuck with two bags of something that is vile! If you've used Damiana in the past and found it worked for you, ignore this. If you haven't, proceed with caution. Both my bags are destined for my compost heap in the hope that they will act at least as a soil improver!For me:Pain relief? Zero.Anxiety relief? Quite the opposite in that how do I get rid of the smell?Aphrodisiac? Only if you can get off on making love to an ashtray - I can't!Let's hope the marshmallow leaf I bought at the same time is better!Edit: The marshmallow leaf turned out to be just as horrible and, for me, ineffective. It isn't renowned for mild aphrodisiac properties so Ignore those bits in the main review. Calming or pain relieving though? Nope! That's three bags from this seller that I hope my compost heap will love more than I have.
