Easy peasy put together!!
First I’m 83 but a young-ish 83 and this sweeper was a breeze to put together. Didn’t even look at the instruction sheet… how hard can it be to simply screw the handle pieces together. There is a very close tolerance between the open end of the rods and the threaded end so If you just ram ‘em together and then try to screw ‘em together, you’re gonna fail. I read one review where the person said much the same thing and took their time screwing them together gently. I did that and all the rods fit and screwed together perfectly. Like I said if you ram ‘em together and then try screwing them together, the threaded end and the open end aren’t going to mesh and it’ll be near impossible to put the handle rods together & maybe even get them back apart they’ll be so stuck together. Slowly and gently is the secret. RE the handle, it doesn’t screw on. I just turned the sweeper upside down and tapped it on the floor and it also fit perfectly. There’s threads on the end of the rod and that’s just so you can screw any two of the rods together except the one that attaches to the sweeper itself. The threaded end of which ever rod you use to attache to the handle is superfluous and have nothing to do with attaching the handle to it. You’ll have no problem whatsoever setting up your Bissell sweeper if you take it slow and easy attaching all the rods together. SLOW AND EASY is the secret to putting it together.

Don't expect vacuum level performance but it's great for quick light jobs
Works best on hard flooring. Not great on carpeting but that was expected. My cat kicks out some litter from his box and I use this for quick pick-up jobs between deeper cleanings with an actual broom and mop. It picks up larger cat litter pieces pretty good although it struggles with smaller debris (dust or very small rocks, etc). You do have to make several passes for better results but again this is not a powered vacuum with suction. I did have to put some lube on the handle threads when assembling it and it was a lot easier after that. Assembling the handles is a delicate process that you have to be patient with and work the pieces back and forth until the threads smoothly come together. Overall I like this item and it's good for quick pick up of medium-large debris.

I love it!
Scroll to the end for a pro and conSuper easy to put together! The handle length is perfect, even though I couldn’t get the grip part to screw on—it wasn’t a big deal, I didn’t need it anyway. This carpet sweeper is honestly a lifesaver. I have two guinea pigs and a cat, and there is hay everywhere. Between the daily hay and straw cleanup and my cat knocking over the hay bin constantly, it feels like I’m always dealing with a mess. But this thing picks it up like a champ.Sometimes it doesn’t grab everything on the first swipe, so you might have to go over a spot a couple of times—but that’s fine with me. It’s super lightweight and easy to carry around, which makes quick cleanups way less of a hassle. I actually kind of enjoy using it now, and I sweep up whenever I see a mess. The only thing I wish was different is the way you have to empty it. You have to open one side, dump it, then flip it around and empty the other. It works, but it’s a little annoying when you’re doing it a lot. That said, you can tell when it’s full—it doesn’t pick up as much, so that’s my signal to stop and empty it.I’ve had it for 2 or 3 months now and use it almost every day. Since I live in a small apartment, I love that it’s quiet and doesn’t bother my neighbors—or shock me like my old vacuum used to. It feels really sturdy too, and I’d definitely buy another one if I needed to.Someone mentioned using a bristle brush to clean out the rollers, which sounds like a smart idea. I haven’t needed to yet, but I’ll keep that in mind. Also to mention when I had just filled my guinea pigs hay bin, I had left it sitting on the sofa-my mistake, my kitten knocked it over and I wasn’t impressed at all. My carpet is like a big area stubble rug if that makes sense? (I’ll add a video later on) it took me 4 trips to the trash can emptying my sweeper to get all the hay off the floor and it was a huge pile. I was very impressed with how much it swept up and how quick it took to clean it all up.Pros:• Super easy to assemble• Lightweight and portable• Quiet (great for apartments)• Picks up hay and messes really well• Sturdy and reliable• Great for daily use and pet messes• Doesn’t shock like some vacuums• Surprisingly satisfying to useCons:• Doesn’t always pick up everything on the first pass• Emptying both sides can be a bit inconvenient• Grip handle didn’t screw on properly

OK only
Item does an acceptable job of picking up what I wanted it for on my bathroom rugs BUT the spring loaded dirt bin cover makes it hard to get all the fine particle out of the dust bin, especially since they seem to want to stick to the sides of the bin. I needed to get a paper towel to wipe out the inside and outside of the sweeper to get the fine particles into the trash. Also, the ASK RUFUS feature indicated this sweeper was made in the USA when I asked so I paid more than some of the other sweepers cost, BUT the box it came in was clearly marked - "made in China". I will keep it because it is still better than trying to vacuum the rugs and have the vacuum cleaner try to eat them, but it is not as good as I had hoped for.

So handy
This is the greatest thing I've purchased in a long time. It saves me so much time. I use it in the kitchen every day on my throw rugs and throughout the rest of the house to pick up cat fur. It works equally well on tile and carpet. I have only one complaint, similar to what other reviewers have noted. The handle is extremely difficult to attach. Finally had my grandson put it on for me. For several days it kept coming loose making me think I would need to tape it on. But seems to be staying tight finally. So the handle attachment definitely needs some improvement from Bissell. But it's nothing I can't live with. I'm loving it because anything that makes my life easier, I am definitely keeping.

These do wear out, so buy a new one....
My previous one that was 15 years old & was not picking up as much. Not sure why it was worn out, it looked OK but this new one is so must better.
