The first one worked great till my kid spilled pickle juice all over it.. so this was the replacement control. Not the cheapest thing, but Apple makes quality items. This controller is much better than the older style that didn’t have the mute buttons or clicking directional controls

This remote is an enormous improvement over the original tiny trackpad remote. The original tiny remote is stylish but awful to use. This one still has a small trackpad for those that really like trackpads, but adds directional buttons that are so much easier (and more precise) to use. And, wonder of wonders, it also adds a power button so that you don’t have to have a PhD in computer science to figure out how to turn your box on and off. It’s very easy to pair too. Although they recommend that you hold the remote next to the Apple box, I accidentally paired mine by pushing the power button while about 15 feet from the box. It also automatically unpairs the old remote.All in all, a big improvement, and I’m sorry that I waited so long to get it. Yes, it’s stupidly expensive, but that’s Apple. If you’re still suffering with the original Siri remote, it’s well worth the expense to get this one.
