Great brush at a great price. I was using a vanderhaggen brush for years but it finally lost its bristles. Now I was surprised on how small this brush is. The other reviews mentioned that but I did not see it till after I ordered. No big deal. It made a better lather than what I was getting with my old one. Now this dose have a strange smell to it. It smells like a nail salon fume. I imagine that it will diffuse after awhile. once agine no big deal. It don't knock you out and I use Col. Conk Bay Rum soap that's all I smell. Wooden handle makes it look very nice on the sink. I'm not an expert on brushes but this one works very well.

Badger brush is very soft. Never tried face lathering before. Tried it with this brush and it worked great.Great value for the money. Did not notice any smell.

Recently started shaving more regularly and wanted to replicate my shave routine while traveling and that meant I needed a way to store my shave brush. Looked at a few cases but they were just too overpriced, so I decided to find a new brush with a case. Settled on this because you can't really beat it for the value. It did of course have a strong odor but I followed the recommended cleaning instruction that came with it and after several uses it now smells like my shave soap. It did shed quite a bit at first but that has pretty much stopped. I've used it for 2 1 week periods while away from home and it has performed well. Holds a lot of water and doesn't take a whole lot of work to lather up my Proraso soap. The only knock I have against it is how small it is. For most people it won't be a big deal but if you have big hands like me you may find them cramping up while holding it for the necessary time it takes to lather. I also think I may prefer boar to badger though, this may be softer but my boar brush has more of a solid feel and spring to it when lathering. If you want a good starter brush or something for traveling then you really can't go wrong at this price.

Listen, it smells a little funky out of the (impressive) packaging. And, it lost a few bristles on the first couple shaves. But, after those first couple shaves, it smells great (like shaving soap, obviously), and I haven't had more than maybe one lost bristle in the last week. It makes a great lather, and feels good. Hard to justify spending an extra $10 ~ $30 just to avoid a weird smell on opening.P.S. My partner said she suspected the funky smell might've been badger musk. Badge of authenticity?

While this brush is acceptable as far as shaving brushes go, it is a bit harsh against the skin. The bristles are coarse and are sometimes noticeably unpleasant causing minor discomfort. For the first week, there was a rather foul odor from the brush, which would not disappear despite washing with soap. It has diminished over time. The brush is acceptable. It works, but I would not recommend it.

It's works great. It does however come with a distinct badger smell to it. It fades and completely goes away with time.

The brush comes with a little booklet that suggest that you soak the brush in a cup of shampoo and water for a while before you use it. I did not notice a terrible smell from it. I have not noticed a rampant loss of hair from the brush. It's a good solid shaving brush for a very reasonable price. I recommend the brush.

I use to have a cheap brush until it broke so I bought this one. After a month of use it works really well and I like the feeling on the face. It does have a few hairs fall from it but it is expected and at the price it is well worth it.
