If you see one-star reviews from people claiming to be engineers and having trouble then ignore them; you would have to be a criminally incompetent engineer or a complete retard or both to have a problem with this kit.I bought this as the base for my 6th grader's science fair project about generating electricity. Our idea was to build the base generator and then change out the magnets (sold separately - we used a couple of sizes from the ***ELECFIND 80PACK, 5, 6x3, 8x3, 10x3,12x3,15x2, Round Refrigerator, Fridge Magnet Disc(Multiple-Sizes), silvery*** The big magnet in that pack generated some good current, but you could only fit two of the magnets on the kit's nut. Still, it demonstrated what we wanted because even with two magnets the big ones churned out the Amps!). This was easy to do if you buy the right size magnets. We were able to demonstrate that weaker magnets generate less current than stronger magnets.Building the generator was easier than I expected it to be; if you are the type who can assemble Walmart furniture then you should be able to do it.There are lots of demonstrations and experiments that are included in the booklet, but like I said we just needed a generator base. The neat thing is you could use it as a base for all kinds of mad scientist stuff, which is especially cool if your child is into tinkering or mad scientist stuff.

My son used this for a science project. However, he did have to buy more bulbs to get different variables. Would have given it a 5 star rating if it wasn’t for that.

Highly recommend by my sons science teacher and it’s truly the best kit, comes with almost everything you need to complete different project. Price was also very reasonable and it arrive the next day.

This "toy" is way too difficult to put together. Once it was put together - HOURS later - it did not work. I was going to use to in a classroom to demonstrate electromagnets and how they are the base for so many things we use today. Ended up having to use a video because the product did not work.

The instructions for the projects are confusing and unclear often—not well defined. Diagrams don’t help much either. Would not be difficult to improve this aspect.Kit is reasonably complete although expect to need other items to complete each project. Overall I would look for a different kit next time, especially for (older) kids to use. Imho this kit is far from young scientist friendly.

This was a Christmas gift and the 13 year old boy seemed to like it.
