Works Well (after a Modification)
This gate is sturdy and attractive, but I suspected that we'd encounter an issue reported by other reviewers. Sure enough, the dog was able to fit through the cat door. But I'd ordered the gate anyway with a potential solution in mind based on something that a reviewer for a different product had mentioned.I removed the cat door, since we'd never close it anyway. I then used zip ties to attach the cat door sideways above the opening, covering about one-third of the hole. Removing the door took some work and I scratched it up slightly in the process, but it's nothing you'd notice. Now, if only there were also an easy modification to make the main door open both ways.Update: It turns out that there is an easier way to remove the cat door than the method I used. The cat door has an opening through which you can use needle-nose pliers to work one of the pins down. A Web search for Carlson Gate Door Removal (or something similar) should return a video in which someone illustrates this.

Very nice, but read those instructions!
This is a really well made gate. That being said, I panicked when I took it out of the box and the frame looked bent, BUT it is designed to be this way. Being a male, I didn't look at the directions. Had I done so, things would have made sense! Basically, the bend in the frame is used to keep pressure against the wall so when the gate is opened, it actually stays where you want it. Other than that little moment, the gate is really easy to set up, looks nice, and the dog has a harder time trying to eat the cats.

Narrow 16-inch walkway, but attractive
Pros: Attractive, and I will keep the most visible one. It leads to a spare bedroom (visible from kitchen), is backed by a stained wood door, so gate blends well.Big Con: 16-inch walkway, narrowest of 4 gates (different brands) I've owned, even though all 4 fit 30-inch openings. I'm 115 lbs and my hips won't fit through 16 inches without turning sideways. Carlson should clarify walkway sizes in descriptions.I"m sending one of these Carlson gates back and instead ordered a "Mypet" gate which reportedly has a 21-inch walkway. With either brand, I'll need to narrow/modify the pet opening to allow cats, but not a 19-lb Boston Terrier. If you don't need a small pet door, I also own a "Safety 1st" gate that has a 21-inch opening, good for high-traffic areas like mudroom/back door.I'm not sure if Carlson sells a gate with a 21-inch walkway because (again) specifications aren't listed.

Perfect for cats and dogs to limit access to rooms
We love this gate! We’ve had it for about a year now and it’s held up great - very sturdy. We are 5’11” to 6’4” in our house so I wanted a tall gate that I didn’t have to bend down to open. Originally purchased to block off access to certain areas from the dogs, but still allow the cats access. For about 6 months, I kept the cat doors open. This caused some problems if you open the gate with the cat door open cuz you can trip on the cat door or it’ll hit your shin if you opened the gate the “other” way. We have a foxhound that was able to squeeze herself through the cat door. So then I had my husband cut one of the metal bars off the cat door. This way I can keep the cat doors closed and the cats can still walk through - and it made it too small for the foxhound to get through. After cutting the metal bar out, I just used a black sharpie to color in where the metal was showing.I have one gate on the kitchen to keep dogs out while cooking, one on the litter box room to stop the dogs from getting into the litter, and one on our office to prevent the dogs access to any important paperwork they might decide would be a better snack than document. While still allowing the cats access to every room. These are great gates! I even bought some for my friend who has kids and cats.

We like the gate
We like the gate. The little wood panel adds a nice touch, and the versatility of having both a cat-sized gate and a human-sized gate is perfect for a household where we have both a dog and a cat (and humans).Worth noting that the human-size gate only opens in one direction, but the reason for that is a tab that prevents you from accidentally shutting the gate too hard and it swinging back open the other way, so this minor inconvenience is worth knowing that an inattentive person won't accidentally leave the gate open. The cat gate is easily big enough for our 20-lb. Maine Coon mix to walk through - in fact, it could be smaller. Our 60-lb, long-legged redbone coonhound has figured out that he can push his front legs through, then his head, then cross those front legs, and force his shoulders through the cat opening. Once his front shoulders are through, the rest of him follows. It was impressive to see his determination. (Mind you, this guy is also able to back himself out of his Ruffwear harness when he really wants to, so I think it's a function of his shoulders being narrower than his ribs). I don't see this being a problem with the majority of larger dog breeds.

Oh, Good. A sticker from hell.
Product is solid, and the only gate I could find tall enough to keep my German Shepherd from trying to hurdle it while also allowing a cat through. It would be five stars without the infuriating sticker that wraps around both sides of one of the posts. It is enormous and a complete pain to remove. I shouldn't have to spend an hour or more fighting a freaking unpeelable sticker on what ammounts to a semi-permanent piece of furniture. Hell of it is there are two stickers. One on each side. They got one of them right and its easy to remove. But this last one is beyond infuriating. Just be aware and have goo gone or something handy.

Cats in, dog out
With two cats and one Great Dane cross, we needed a solution that would keep the dog but not the cats out of the room with their food and litterbox. This fits the bill! I think the dog could get over the gate if he really wanted to, but he has respected it so far (a couple of months). The cats took about 2 minutes to grasp their little gate and we've had no problems with it.Even if our dog were smaller, I like this size because I can open the gate without bending over, like I would have to with the regular-sized ones.

Great gate
We were looking for a baby gate that would allow our cats to pass through. This has worked great and has been an excellent product. That said, the anchors that attach to the walls are a little flimsy so we have to make sure our toddler does not shake the gate too hard. One anchor actually broke and I had to weld it back together.
