Hostess Twinkies Banana - 10 CT by Hostess

Remember the Banana Flip? A folded taco shaped yellow cake with white cream filling? My older brother always had first dibs on it, so i rarely got it. These Twinkies are IT. The "Banana Twins" by somebody else are sickeningly sweet. These were delish. Too bad brother is now allergic to bananas... they're mine, all mine!

I wanted to try these after I found out that original Twinkies were banana flavoured until WWII, so I wanted to see what that might have tasted like. I know modern banana flavouring is based on the way bananas used to taste over 100 yrs ago so it couldn't be that far off, right?Anyway:these were excellent!!! They have ruined me for regular vanilla (?) flavoured Twinkies!! The banana flavour wasn't too strong, cloying, or 'super fake' tasting. (I know it's fake but it didn't scream fake, y'know?) Very moist, creamy filling, buttery and a nice fruity sweet, an excellent flavour combo.

Package arrived crushed. Twinkies were flat. It's like the box was flattened. Flavor tasted old. Took like a month to get. I thought I actually canceled the order

Cake seemed dry. Filling flat. Once believed the original Twinkie flavor could cause the return of the Messiah. No more. Eternity will continue but without divinity. Sad.

After learning the original Twinkies from the 1930s were filled with banana-flavored cream, I was pleased to find a modern version was available. They are fine, the banana cream is reasonably good, but the cake is a bit dry as with most Twinkies you get at the store. Overall an interesting product & peek into Hostess history, probably won't buy again unless very fresh.

I read that these were coming back. I had to try them. They taste like a banana without any funny taste. I will be buying more.
