The Definitive JAVA Reference

A comprehensive description of the JAVA language tracing the evolution of the language from inception through JDK 17.The writing is clear and concise. Example code is well crafted. By far, the best book on a programming language I have ever had the privilege of reading.....and I've read quite a few over the course of my career starting with BASIC, FORTRAN, PL1, C, C++, etc.If you wish to master contemporary JAVA....this is the book you need.

Very useful and complete reference guide

The book was slightly damaged on the spine duo bad packaging.Nonetheless all pages where intact.Warning, very thick and heavy but very useful to keep around in your workplace or office.Has pretty much everything covered.

The Ultimate Java Reference Guide -- not for newbies

An absolute must-have for anyone serious about mastering Java. I would recommend this for a more experienced developer rather than a beginner. This book provides an in-depth and comprehensive resource to truly understand Java programming.Comprehensive and Detailed:Herbert Schildt is renowned for his ability to break down complex topics into clear, understandable explanations, and this book is no exception. From the basics of Java syntax to advanced topics like multi-threading, networking, and JavaFX, this book covers it all. The 12th edition is updated to include the latest features of Java, including Java 9 and later, ensuring you’re learning the most current best practices.Clear and Practical Examples:What sets this book apart is its hands-on approach. Each concept is accompanied by clear examples that help illustrate how Java is used in real-world programming. The examples are well-commented, making it easy to follow along, and the practical exercises help reinforce the concepts you learn. This is a fantastic resource for those who prefer learning by doing.Well-Organized and Easy to Follow:The structure of the book is well thought out. It begins with a solid foundation, covering core concepts like data types, control flow, and object-oriented programming. Then, it gradually progresses to more advanced topics, such as GUI development, file handling, and Java’s collection framework. The layout makes it easy to find topics, whether you're looking for a specific reference or working through the material from start to finish. The only issue you may have is that the type is so small. Us older folks definitely need our spectacles for this one!Perfect for Reference:This book isn’t just a tutorial; it’s also an excellent reference guide. With over 1,100 pages, it covers every aspect of Java programming in detail, making it a valuable tool to have at hand as you work on projects or tackle coding challenges. The clear explanations and index make it easy to quickly look up any Java topic you need help with. The book assumes some basic understanding of programming, however, even someone with limited experience should be able to understand the concepts. Its depth makes it invaluable for intermediate and advanced developers as well.

Herbert Shildt Is a Coding Advent

When Herbert writes the messages just click in my mind. His writings are akin to a notation specification,in their quantum detail, yet I am able to comprehend, usually without difficulty. I have yet to come across a title of his that didn't teach me much. He puts things in full detail but in a concise manner. His books feelcomplete whereas other authors' may be very good and detailed but some have limited scope, even though they may teach well also. He will definitely teach you the syntax, there's no question in my mind. You'll finish his books with a very in depth understanding of the toolset taught.A negative concern with this and most of the other code books I've ever tried is that the authors usually don't include the negative aspects of a specific tool.
