Works exactly as needed
Build quality is great and it was an easy plug and play out of the box, would buy again! Cable length works great for connecting my older 2012 mbp to my monitor

Very good cable
I’m very proud of my diy desk office space that I made mostly myself for around $60; not only because most of it was free but because I made some of these things myself. The desktop was a free door from Facebook. I stained and applied poly to finish it. The monitor stand is scrap wood that I had on hand. It’s a very simple and useful way to hide my keyboard when I need more space. Anyways — this review is about a cable not my office. The cable works great with the *free* 2011 27” iMac that I upgraded (the graphics card it’s a thing) and the *free* 22” LED monitor that someone didn’t want anymore. The only thing pictured that I paid for is the cable. It plugs into one of the iMac display ports and the other into the hdmi on the monitor. (You can see I made my own stand out of scrap wood)And yes it’s an iMac but I run windows 10. That’s just how I roll. I put in an SSD but didn’t bother installing OSX because I really don’t use it.To conclude, I like this cable because it was reasonably priced and it works. Thank you for letting me talk about my office.

Does the job the way the job needs to be done
First, a rant: I love sports, but instead of the typical sports most Americans like I go for road cycling (especially European grand tours), World Cup alpine ski racing, and snowboard competitions. Up until a few years ago I could get a lot of what I wanted on regular broadcast stations and basic cable, but these days it just costs too much to get the NBC and NBC's Olympic channel, which provide a fraction of what I want to watch, especially when NBC's coverage consists of highlights with lame commentary that focuses on the most famous American athletes and tons of fluff. So you can imagine how happy I was to discover that a VPN (virtual private network) would convince Eurosport that I live in the UK, so now I can stream everything I could possibly want to my 2009 iMac.I hate having to huddle in front of the mediocre 20" screen to watch streaming video, but a little research revealed that I could get the video over to my TV with this simple cable, and sure enough it works perfectly so I can now watch events in HD. My 2009 iMac is so old that its mini displayport won't transmit audio to the TV no matter what kind of adapter I use, and I don't have external speakers for my computer, but it was easy to run a separate audio cable from the iMac's headphone port to my stereo's auxiliary port. The AmazonBasics cable is very sturdy, but I did manage to break the first cable I bought because at 6 feet it was too short to lie on the floor, making it inevitable that I would eventually trip over it, but I was happy that the displayport plug on the 6 foot cable I bought at first broke off instead of knocking the computer to the floor. Fortunately the 10 foot cable lies on the floor, and now I'm a happy little camper. I have several other AmazonBasics cables which have never given me any trouble, so I'm confident that this is the last cable I'll need for this use.

Hard to know if it will work with your devices (not Amazon's fault)
I bought two of this cable so I could extend the display on my Macbook Pro Early 2015 to two Dell P2217H monitors. The Macbook Pro seems to respond when plugging the cable into it as it freezes up for half a second. However, the display is not detected even when using the option key and "Detect Displays". I thought the cable might be suspect, so I tried it on a Surface Pro 2 and both of the cables worked with both monitors. I tried connecting between my Macbook Pro and my Samsung 46" HDTV and that also works (The Surface Pro 2 also works with the Samsung HDTV and these cables). So it seems that both the cables, the mini display port/thunderbolt ports on my Macbook Pro, and the HDMI ports on my Dell monitors all work, but unfortunately they do not work when connected together. This appears to be an Apple problem. It seems that some users have found that the connection to their monitors stopped working after a particular OS upgrade on their Macs. Extremely disappointing from Apple. They continue to showcase their lack of understanding as it comes to compatibility with other devices and seem to have put little effort into addressing this issue.Otherwise, the cable quality seems good. I haven't had it for long so I can't say for certain. Just don't abuse the cable and you'll probably be able to use it for a while. I'll be giving mine to someone who could actually benefit from them.

It works!
Plugged it into my Imac late 2013 computer with the thunderbolt opening and wanted another monitor to work with it and plugged an older HP monitor to the HDMI port and I had to do NOTHING else! It worked like magic. I love Youtube - that is where I learned about this.

New Samsung displays to Mac Pro
I bought a couple of cheap Samsung curved displays for my old Mac Pro with two mini-DVI ports. The only digital inputs for these new displays are HDMI so it made sense to use these cables rather than buying expensive mini-DVI adapters.
