BOSCH GLM400C 400 Ft Blaze Outdoor Connected Laser Measure with Viewfinder, Includes 3 AA Batteries, Hand Strap, & Pouch

This is an accurate device that has been very helpful in cabinet install. Measuring inside cabinets for shelving is not very accurate to do with a tape measure with face frame cabinets because you have to bend the tape (or add the length of the tape measure frame). Putting the back side of this laser measure to an inside cabinet wall makes this a very easy and accurate way to measure. One of the negative reviews from a seemingly confused user that complains about this measure defaulting from the back side. My decades long experience with all the construction trades makes the back side default much more logical - if you have to line the front end of the measure up with an edge it wouldn't be as accurate from the starting end and if you were measuring anything other than something out in the open a front side default would be stupid to use, I can't imagine what the confused user measures so frequently from the front side. Measuring any interior dims requires the back end default which also provides a nice square back end to work from. It is also nice that it shows the incline angle for running drain lines at proper drainage pitch while measuring the length and required locations of the pipe ends. I am happy with the purchase, time will tell if it holds up but so far I am very impressed and I don't usually give 5 star reviews of most tools.

The video system for identifying the laser spot position doesn't allow for a precise view of the laser's position for long-distance measurements; you must move to the location of the laser spot. If the position is incorrect, you'll need to go back and forth several times until you get the correct position, or you'll need to use powerful binoculars or a telescope. Otherwise, it works well.

Bosch needs to change this tool’s firmware ASAP!This laser measurement tool defaults to measuring from the back of the device instead of the front. Who’s terrible idea was this? Does anyone measure from the back of their tape measure? Maybe .01% of the time I need to measure from the back like when I set it on the ground to measure floor to ceiling or from wall to wall, but other than that, I always measure everything logically from the front.Let’s say you go into the settings and set it to measure from the front, then after a couple minutes of inactivity it turns off to conserve battery… when you turn it back on and continue measuring, it automatically reverts to the default settings of measuring from the back. 😡 This is terrible if you are taking lots of measurements, you set it how you want then it auto shuts off and you keep measuring from the front, only now it’s giving you measurements with an extra 5-5/8”… When you are busy working, it’s easy to forget to remember this each and every time but if you miss it once, all your measurements are thrown into doubt and you must start over from the beginning. This is frustrating and costly.You must be very vigilant to always check which end it’s measuring from. Other people with this same Bosch laser have given me measurements from equipment in another state. They double checked that the measurements were correct but they didn’t make sense to me… I asked them if they were using a Bosch laser… then I told them about this huge flaw and sure enough, their measurements were off by 5-5/8” and it could have cost us a new conveyor failing to fit. This is a major flaw!!! If you don’t catch it wrong then many of your measurements will be way off. $$$$$
