NR770HBNMO Mobile antenna 2m/70cm, NMO, 40in

I was using a mobile 2M/440 dual band antenna with an NMO mount before buying this antenna. My mount is on an E-Bike I use for bicycle mobile operation using a 5 watt HT on both VHF and UHF. I am running in both analog and digital modes along with APRS reporting.I purchased this antenna in hope of improving my signal into the local nodes/repeaters and was not disappointed. After setting the antenna up, I used an antenna analyzer and found the SWR to be very close to perfect on both VHF and UHF right out of the shipping bag from the factory! There is the ability to also make minor adjustment both up and down in frequency as needed to your specific center frequency using the included Allen key for the two Allen screws that securely hold the antenna whip.I am now seeing a great improvement in my signal strength over my older antenna. (Old one was quarter wave mobile antenna on 2M and 1/2 wave on UHF) The antenna also has a feature where you can pull up vertically on the whip and allows a fold over to allow the antenna on an automobile to fit in a garage without contact with the garage door and in my case, allow easier getting on the bike as my leg goes over the antenna when mounting myself on the bike seat. As an amateur radio operator for almost 40 years, I am extremely happy with the overall quality, build, and performance of this antenna! Note: This is the antenna only and does not include the NMO base mount and coax cable.

I bought this 3 years ago for my Land Cruiser and its been great. Its knocked down more than a far share of leaves over that time and its holding up nicely. Still right where I tuned it. It's less great on 70cm, but for 2m it's been good. Granted only the top few inches are above the roof so my pattern is pretty directional towards the rear but even then it doesn't seem to be a problem getting into digipeaters or repeaters as I go.

Antenna works great, but the description says 40 inches in one part, 41 inches in another, when in fact the antenna is only 38 inches in length. I still would have bought it, and still recommend it, but why?

Good: it folds down flat for clearanceBad: no base spring mountBe careful if you mount it high up. I put it on my Jeep JK fiberglass roof. Works just fine with a VSWR less than 1.5 BUT I need to be wary of overhead obstructions

Rather tight on frequency. A little on the low end out of the package.

I have tried multiple mobile antennas trying to get one that would work well on modern abs vehicle this one does. Mounted and tried it the day it arrived, picked up my phone and ordered another.

Diamond had it already trimmed so I didn’t need have to.

Antenna works great. I've been using it mobile for a while and I have no complaints. I'm still trying to find a mag mount strong enough to support it in the location I have it, since the mount I bought is evidently not rated for highway speeds.
