Perfect! I’ve looked everywhere for magnetic foam pattern blocks that come in standard colors and these are exactly right! They are magnetic, foam and come in standard size and colors so they match perfectly with standard pattern cards like these ones from Learning Resources and Learning Advntage. My 3 boys love this! Foam makes it light and easy for them to carry around even with 200 pcs and quiet enough to play with, and the magnets keep them in place and lessens the frustration of having to keep fixing the pieces while building. I did purchase a separate 12” x 16” magnetic board for them to use it on. I think the quality of your board or magnetic surface affects how strong the magnets stick. I was able to compare with 2 boards and one stuck much stronger than the other even with pattern cards in between. With 200 pieces I never heard anyone complaining that they are running out of pieces. We also never had any issues with odor, nor of pieces not cut to the correct angles, or pieces peeling from their magnets. All the pieces fit together perfectly! The version we got is the one with thin brown rhombi and no white pieces. Since we got this my 6 yr old especially has been on a building spree. So happy with this purchase!

I was looking for pattern blocks for my son to use with his pattern block puzzle sheets. At first I was set on buying wooden ones that I knew would last for a long time but in my search I came across these and decided that these would be much better because if my boys decided to throw them at each other they wouldn't hurt or break anything in the house! The pieces are very light weight foam making it super easy to carry. My 2.5 year old son can grab the container off the shelf to play with them no problem. Each foam piece is attached to a magnet cut out in the same shape. The colors are very bright and you get more than enough pieces to use with pattern puzzle sheets or to design your own pictures. I love the container because it keeps all the pieces together and its an easy screw on lid with a handle making it easy to open and close and to carry. My son loves using these on his magnetic easel or sitting on the floor with a cookie sheet! Pattern blocks can be used for so many things from recognizing shapes, to sorting colors and shapes, filling in patter block cards, designing your own pictures, working with patterns, and even introducing fractions! The only downside to these was that they did initially have a strong oder that I am assuming was from the glue used to adhere the magnet to the foam. I would just suggest dumping them out of the container (outside would be best) to let them air out for a bit. Otherwise I love these and would buy them again.

My 3 year old loves these! When they came in the mail, he spent an hour or so designing shapes with them on his magnet board (we use a oil drip pan from the auto department, as seen on Pinterest). Since then, he keeps popping over to the magnet board to play with them.I was nervous to order them, due to complaints from other reviewers about a strong odor. However, we did not notice any significant odor and were able to play with them straight out of the package with no off-gassing time.My only complaint is that the magnets are not super strong. One of the intended uses for this is to take on car trips, using a cookie sheet to keep the magnets together. With a pattern block activity mat over the cookie sheet, the pieces still slide around. This problem was remedied by using a plain sheet of printer paper. So, any pattern block activity sheets that we use for this purpose will need to be printed from the computer and not laminated. The magnets are able to stick fine to the cookie sheet with a sheet of printer paper.

I bought these for my 5 year old for our summer vacation (10 hour drive each way) to use on a cookie sheet and she loved them. We only packed about half of them in a busy bag for the car and so there are still plenty to use in the house too. The only reason I dropped a star is that they were a little smelly when we got them, but that has since dissipated.

Gave these to my daughter for her third birthday a few months ago. She's just now become really interested in (and good at) jigsaw puzzles and these are a nice variation of the same theme when used with paper templates. Thanks to the other reviewers for the cookie sheet tip. These are soft and easy to handle, and there are so many that in one sitting we were able to complete four simple templates and set them aside (to show off to Daddy), then make flowers with the leftovers. Great deal. Not sure why one reviewer thought they were too small - the only thing I have to worry about my three year old putting in her mouth anymore is toy food, baby bottles, etc. The dog, on the other hand, does for some reason like to chew these, so we have to keep them off the floor.

My 6 yr old loves these especially putting on fridge and creating his own shapes or in other magnetic surfaces small for my hands but his I think they fit fine. Soft easy to use great when doing math w teacher online as well. The container it comes in is a plus so I don’t have pieces missing all over the place!

My boys love these magnets (ages 8 and 10). They are pretty durable and can be used to create many "masterpieces". There are several different shapes and each shape has the same color. They are very bright and stick to any metal surface really well. There are quite a few of them so both my boys can use them at the same time. It really inspires imagination. This is my second set as they tend to get lost under the fridge or washer or dryer. My first set lasted about 4 years so I just bought this new set and both boys were so happy to get new ones to add to remaining old set.

It’s missing some of the blocks. I didn’t get any square shapes despite the container saying squares should be inside. I feel like they were a little expensive for what I got
