Cute projects, but no sizing options!
There are a lot of cute projects in here, but there are no instructions for sizing an item up or down. This obviously doesn't much matter for things like scarves, but it would be nice to be able to make the mittens and socks in various sizes, and unfortunately, I am not adept enough at knitting to know how to adjust the patterns myself. For example, the hedgehog mittens on the cover "should fit an average child of 7-10 years", which is disappointing to me as a 31 year old woman who wants to wear them. :(

Mostly scarves, few "mitts"
I got this as a gift for my mom who is an advanced knitter. I am fairly disappointed as I was hoping for more patterns like the one featured on the cover. Having gone through the book now, I would say that it is about 75% scarves (with critter faces and tales) and the rest largely hats and socks. There are only two patterns like the one on the cover - the hedgehog mittens and fox mittens. They are both adorable and my son immediately said he'd like the fox mittens. This will come down to personal preference, but my mom makes adorable mittens and fingerless gloves and I thought this would expand her repertoire. It's misleading when a book cover features the cutest pattern, but it is not representative of the majority of content. And since "Look Inside" is only a sampling of what you will find inside I hoped for (many) more mittens.

Wish I had seen more before buying
I'm somewhat disappointed in that so many of the otherwise clever patterns are written for bulky/chunky yarn and large needles, which are not my preference. There was no way to determine this from the "look inside" format.

No Sizing Options
There are a few reasons that I was disappointed, but what contributed most to the lower star rating was the lack of sizing options.Something else is that all of the patterns are variations of the same basic scarf/mitten/hat/sock patterns. I really consider it more like 3 or 4 patterns with about 30 variations.

Patterns did not have enough sizing options.
These are adorable knitting projects, and in my opinion, best suited for the younger set, maybe children around 5, 6 or 7. I was very disappointed that most of the patterns knit up in only one size, and very few had directions for small children. I personally would not wear any of these, as they are too childish and the ones I was interested in for my grandchildren did not come in their sizes.I would have sent it back, but I'm lazy like that.....

Cuteness overload!
I wish my grandkids were small again! These cute, cute, cute animal knitting projects are to die for. The knitting seems accessible for someone of intermediate skill, though all are rated as to difficulty and there are some “easy” patterns included. I am making the hedgehog mitts (on the cover) for myself, just because.

Quick and charming
Did the alligator scarf while I watched the news. It's easy and the patterning really did look like reptile skin. The person I gave it to is a school mascot. The scarf was greeted like a celebrity!

So Darn Cute!
So Darn Cute! I can't wait to get started on these socks, scarves and mittens. I am doing a project for our zoo's docent sales and know they will all sell. I did the hats ladt year and they were a hit.

Misleading but I managed to adjust to fit.
I am very disappointed with this. I wanted to knit the hedgehog mittens for my four year old granddaughter only to find when the book arrived that the pattern is only done in one size 7-10 year old, no use whatsoever for me. In most patterns there are sereral sizes you can choose so I thought this was very poor in that there werent. There aresome nice patterns for scarves but they werent what I wanted. I havewasted £8 plus p&p. On the plus side there were knitting instructions atthe back but it doesnt say this in the product description, just as itdoesnt give the sizing. I thought the whole thing was misleading anddisappointing.Update on review. I have adjusted two pairs of mittens to fit my grandchildren who will be 4 and 10 as we come into next winter. To get them to fit the 4 year old I used 4mm needles and DK yarn to make them a bit smaller and to fit the 10 year old I used 5.5mm needles and the yarnas in the pattern to make them a bit bigger. They are a bit big now in spring so I hope that by autumn they will have grown into them. I have upgraded my rating to 4* since knitting them.

Instructions only given to knit 1 size
I would not have bought this if I had realised you can only knit the items in 1 size. Obviously not a particular problem for the scarves but socks can only be made in shoe size 10.5 - 11.5. Mitts are 7.5” tip to wrist. It didn’t occur to me this would be the case - all patterns give more than 1 size. Sadly for me not a size that is of any use at all. I gave it 2 stars as the designs are cute.

A delightful book and ideal companian for the Knitted Animal Hats by the same Auther ...
This really is a delightful book, clear easy to understand instructions and well illustrated plus it has a section dedicated to knitting terms and instructions for stitches, sewing up etc. it is the perfect companion for the Knitted Animal Hats as it has various items that can be teamed together to create hat, scarf, mitten and sock sets. There really is something to knit for everyone in this book and even the novice knitter should have no problem with understanding the patterns.

Super Cute and Easy To Follow
Love this, all the designs are so cute and the steps are easy to follow. Help for stitches, etc are at the back, but I had to look for videos on YouTube to help me with some things because they were too hard to get my head around - not a criticism to the author, some things are just near impossible to describe with just words and you need to watch someone do it. Would definitely recommend this - I am still a beginner to knitting but I could follow all of these patterns (with some help from the internet and my mother - she can't knit, she just reads out to me what to do and helps untangle me from impossible situations I get into). If you are a beginner and are worried this is too advanced, don't worry about it, all steps are easy to follow and the abbreviations are all explained in the back.
