RESTCLOUD36" Large Monarch Butterfly Habitat, Giant Collapsible Insect Mesh Cage Terrarium Pop-up 24 x 24 x 36 Inches Tall (White + Green)

I've bought these several times over the last several years. I use them to rear caterpillars indoors, where they can have plenty of ventilation and there's space for larger branches in the 24x24x36. I use the 12x14 round one for young caterpillars and for moth eclosure. At the end of the season, I clean them in a mild bleach solution then put them out in the sun to dry. I think only once I had to replace some because of mice, otherwise they hold up pretty well. I do recommend the enclosures with the the extra fabric flap that covers the zipper on the inside so you don't have to double check if cats are in the way when you're unzipping the door.

I needed a larger habitat as my small one was just not big enough to accommodate plants and the butterflies once you get above 10 or so. Plus it gave me a secondary tent to move the butterflies into to give them room to fly once they emerged. Sometimes I have to hold them for several days due to the weather being below 60 degrees, raining or too windy to release.PROS:- Large size makes it easy to place larger milkweed plants in if you need several to feed the caterpillars.- Larger opening to maneuver nets and plants.- Mesh is easy to see thru to keep an eye on things but thick enough to keep harmful bugs out. Also a clear plastic side to make viewing easier.- Sturdy structure once opened- Collapses flat for easy storage- Smooth zipper opening and handles at top if needing to move.CONS:- Due to the larger size, it may be harder to maneuver outside to release butterflies.- No ties or way to hold screen door open and out of the way. Easy solution is to use a clothes bin, safety pin or chip clip but would be nice if a tie was included.Super easy and great way to protect the caterpillars and butterflies during inclement weather. Highly recommend.

Easy to use by accessing inside through side zipped panel. Piller dross stains but is easy to wipe down. Large enough for two 12" large pots with two mature milkweed plants per pot. 20-24 Caterpillars / chrysalis / Butterfly per habitat. If lacking plants during metamorphosis, some weight is needed in the base to keep it sturdy. Bee proof, wasp proof, ant proof; yep.Viewing the caterpillar shed skin and become a chrysalis, then later watching the ooze dripping thing emerge from the blackened chrysalis is disturbing. But having butterfly perch on your fingers awaiting release is an experience well worth the effort. Be advised, milkweed is a toxin containing plant. Accidentally transfer some sap or oils into your eyes and you will enjoy tear gas symptoms that will not go away for a couple days. Along with impaired vision. The habitat is a fine well thought-out product, just know what you are getting in to raising butterfly.

Love the product!”Now with the updated review.I received my butterfly habitats very quickly. I opens the first one and it popped open and I knew I had a awesome product! I opened the second one and it had an issue with one side at the bottom and it wouldn’t stand up. I contacted the company and they replied quickly. I was encouraged to close it up in the coil position it was sent in and then try to pop it back open. I had tried that a couple of times before I contacted the company and I explained that. I quickly received a new one and put the other one away. I love these habitats! Weeks went by and I saw the habitat that wouldn’t stand up and I took it to my husband to see if he could get it to work. So I went to open it up so he could see the problem. It popped up perfect. Made me happy! I contacted the company and told them the story and asked them to send me an invoice for the replacement they sent for free. They thanked me for contacting them and were happy to know it works well and gave me the free one anyway. I must admit I feel guilty that they sent the new one.This company I highly recommend. And will purchase from them again!I raise butterflies every year and usually end up with no parsley or dill for myself. So I have decided to use one to grow dill in and I will use one for parsley and I will throw away my old butterfly habitats and use one for swallowtail butterflies.My sister in law told me about these habitats and she uses hers for monarch butterflies.THANK YOU RESTCLOUD!

I will say this is a great product all around, the only negative I see in mine (green and black) is that it is a little hard to see through the mesh inside the house. With the cold windy weather I had it inside by the door and it was hard to see inside. It was a little bigger than I expected but great value for the price and lots of room for many plans for my caterpillars to eat. If you don't have a lot of room I would suggest the smaller one if you do have the space go with this one!!
