How much time does the ink last until I am forced to spend 5 more dollars on more ink?
Is it retractable? Is that deformity at the top for putting pressure on in order to release rhe tip of the pen, dispelling the ink?
Taking into consideration the very special ink that this pen uses, would this be a good choice for a lefty? It seems that this ink may smear easier
Can the seller engrave this item?

This is it!

This is it guys. The one. The standard pen used by astronauts since 1968. Writes underwater, through grease and oil and will even write upside down or on a wall with ease. I have purchased this pen twice. Once in 2018 and again when I lost this sucker in 2025. I purchased exactly zero other pens, only replacement cartridges for this guy. It's a little pricey, but if you are into engineering or space or just need a tool that works in any environment - get this pen!

Great gift for my nerdy artist girlfriend!

Girlfriend loved it! She says it's the sturdiest pen she's ever held in her hands.

One of the Best at a very reasonable price

I was looking for a good EDC pen. Think this meets all my requirements. Very well finished. I like the chrome plating over a brass core. Ink flow is also good.

SPACE PEN FOR THE WIN!

These little things are awesome. We have now bought three of them and I will buy more.I first purchased one for my dad for Father's Day. He always has carried a refillable pen in his pocket. ALWAYS. And don't buy him a shirt without a pocket, as he won't wear it. He needs that pocket for his trusty pen! I read about these space pens online and thought the functionality of being able to write at any angle or temperature would appeal to him. So I ordered one for him, and he loves it! I vowed then that everyone I know should eventually own one of these pens. Since then, my husband and I each gave one to each other for Christmas, without knowing we were doing it!The pen is designed beautifully. It is a nice stainless steel and comes in a heavy plastic case. It comes with black ink, which none of three of us that have it prefer, but the refills come in all different colors (I have green in mine!). The pen writes like a ballpoint - you need a decent amount of pressure and friction to make a mark. Love the size and weight of the pen - small enough to fit in a shirt pocket or a purse, but weighty enough to know you are holding something special. It is probably a bit thinner than I am used to for a pen, as I am regularly use Pilot G2s and they have the little rubber grip that makes them a bit thicker. That being said, I actually think the slimness of the space pen is a plus. It has some nice grooves on it for your fingers to grip. The click and return is very satisfying, a solid click and a separate return button so you know that once you click the top, it is ready to go.I have used my pen in all kinds of situations - cold temps, writing at odd angles, etc. And it does all of those things very well. My only complaint would be the amount of pressure that you need to move it, which is just a byproduct of the type of pen it is. So while it will write at odd angles and not stop working or get weird like other pens, you definitely need to be able to put pressure at whatever angle you are using it. But I love that I can take it anywhere and it will always work. Also, no more having to do those little circles in the corner of the page to get the juices flowing - this pen is always ready to write.I wish they were cheaper so I could leave one in the car, one at my desk, one in my purse, one on my bedside table, etc, etc. But they cost what they do because they are beautiful little feats of engineering. Get one for everyone that you know - they will love it.

Bulky packaging.

Yes, it’s a famous pen. More importantly it is just a really well made pen and it writes perfectly. Worth the price even if it wasn’t a space qualified pen.

Wish they made a non-pressurized cheaper option.

Great pens, I love how they retract. Pricey unless you're going into orbit and need pressurized ink.

Great Pen

I got the Fisher Space Pen for a few reasons:1. It's an all metal pen (I like metal pens for some reason...)2. It's said to write underwater, upside down, and in space. (I don't NEED a pen to do these things, but now I can if I want to.)3. It's the original pen used by NASA on the Appollo missions, the shuttle missions, and the ISS.Reason number three is what really made me buy the pen. I was happy enough with my Zebra F-701 for a regular pen, but I love history, so I got the Fisher. After writing with it for a few days I'm really happy with it. I was a little worried as some of the existing reviews complained about the balance point, steep taper, and lack of grip. In my opinion, none of these are issues. The pen is slightly top-heavy, but if you hold your pen correctly (I know, there's some debate about that...) the top of the pen is resting in the area between your thumb and finger and it doesn't go anywhere.I don't really notice the taper, and the grip seems to be enough for me. The knurling isn't as heavy and "sticky" as on the Zebra F-701, but I haven't had any problems hanging onto the pen.One thing that might be an issue for some people, is that this is a thin pen. I was a little worried about this. I like thin pens, and from some of the pictures on the internet, it looked a little thicker than it is. I haven't got out the calipers to check, but this feels to be about the same diameter as your average BIC.The pen seems to write very smoothly, and I haven't noticed any clumping that was mentioned in some other reviews. I should mention that, if the pen does clump, the reason that I haven't noticed it that my main source of pens is cheap ballpoints that people give away with their logo on it. (My preferred pen before getting my Zebra F-701 was the BIC Clik Stick.)I've only written upside down with the pen a little bit, as this is fairly uncomfortable, but it performs well. I did test to see if it writes underwater. I tore a sheet out of one of my sample Rite in the Rain notebooks, and wrote on it well the faucet was pouring full blast on the paper. No problem. Next, I soaked the sheet in water, and the pen still wrote fine. The ink does tend to bleed a little if you let the paper soak in water overnight, but it's still legible. (and oddly, the black ink turns blue after a good long bath...) No problems at all if you write in water (or write on dry paper, then get it wet) then take the paper out of water and shake it off. Bleeding only seems to occur if you let the paper soak. (I don't see this as a problem for most of us.

Nice compact pen

I bought this as a gift for my wife and she likes it. It fits in her purse nicely and always works when she needs it. It’s a little pricey, but I would recommend this product.
