Best Value Stirrer Available
Real person here, I spent hours on amazon researching for a sub $100 magnetic stirrer of lab-grade quality. I was pleasantly surprised. As long as it holds up and doesn’t break with prolonged use I’m a happy camper. Everything fit together and is of much higher than expected quality. Only complaint is temp range isn’t as big as claimed but it was consistent. I was able to heat 150ml of oil only to a max of 200f, which luckily was plenty for my purposes. Temp control is very variable so that’s nice and spin function works perfectly with many extra stir bars included. Overall I would highly recommend.

Excellent Stirrer, heater so-so.
I really like the aesthetic of this piece of equipment. It is very retro. It stirs my agar and broth very efficiently. The only part that lacks is the heat and any type of markings on the dial. I find if I place a large tote over the stirrer it will eventually get up to a boil. Great piece of equipment for the price.

Not bad for fifty bucks!
Temp control isn’t perfect but if you turn it all the way up, I’ll heat fast! I’ve also learned the spot on the dial that doesn’t make it go over 160f. So far everything is working and making my life much easier! Longest I’ve left it stirring was probably 2 hours so far. Definitely would recommend to others.

Buyer Take Caution!!! You get what you pay for!!!!
Ever wonder why this is the cheapest unit available on Amazon? I'm going to give you a brief review, explain why I think it's the cheapest, and tell you honestly what I think of this unit including the good and the bad.Let me just start out by saying I posted pictures.. Right out of the box this unit looks like it was surplus 1970s school equipment that was reworked and spray painted. There are big sections where the original paint was chipped off and instead of it being sanded smooth they just painted over it. And a further back my theory there are even sections that the paint is so thin that it looks like it had been originally worn off and the new coat couldn't even cover over the bare metal underneath.. appearance aside let's talk about function..Does it get warm? Yes... Does it get hot? Kinda. Will it boil water? NO!!! After running for 30mins on max power (the knob turned all the way right) The water in might be here got hot but managed to only reach 65.5c. For those of you that are unaware, The boiling temperature of water is 100° c.. This in itself makes it worthless as a hot plate to me. The working volume is fairly small however I did know that before purchasing so that's not really a negative. The magnetic stirrers it came with function great. It claims to be 25 watts worth of power for the magnetic motor driving those stirrers and I believe it. With relative ease they will create a massive vortex in the beaker, and by using the rotary potentiometer they have as a speed controller I'm able to slow it down to a very very low speed before stalling. In conclusion this is a fine unit for somebody that does not really need a hot hot plate. However for $30 more you can buy a unit that will achieve 380c or 716f and maintain all the other features. I will be sending this unit back and getting that one instead..

Get what you pay for when going cheap.
Just needed something simple yet effective..although I read most of the reviews I decided to take a leap of faith. As others mentioned the heating element of this has a mind of its own. The Plate itself will heat up but won't stay hot long enough for the liquid inside the container to heat up. Hot plate read 200°+ while the international liquids I was trying to mix only got a high of 100° ish..tends to shut itself off..as for the stirr part..well lot of people say it jus bounces around. That could be a few reasons..un level surface or container. As well as just turning it on full blast. I found if you turn it on low then gradually turn it higher it works just fine. Only tried 4 of the 7 magnetic stir beads and worked fine..would not recommend this. If you need something that heats up and Stirrs then spend the extra money..if you just need something that Stirrs, there are plenty of 20-30$ options

Don't listen to the negative reviews
Spectacular value, great product. the negative reviews clearly come from inexperienced users. Boiling a liter of water on a stove while stirring the water takes a while. as such boiling water on a hot plate will take longer. If you bought this product thinking 1 liter of water would boil before you finish your round of fortnite, you should probably give up on science all together and stick to the video games

Very low heat, heats slowly, great for delicate projects
Not a very broad range of temperature settings, takes a very long time to warm up, maximum heat of liquid in a 500ml beaker filled to 300ml was 247F. I used an infrared thermometer gun to check the temp regularly. Some may find this frustrating but it worked excellent for gently evaporating alcohol from an extraction.
